| Titre: | Machaon | | Prise de: | Au bord du bas Hérault, près de St.-Guilhem. | | Description: | Le machaon est un insecte lépidoptère de la famille des papilionidés. Il est présent dans toute l'Europe mais semble se raréfier en Europe centrale. Cette espèce possède une vaste aire de répartition couvrant pratiquement tout l'hémisphère nord tempéré. Plus de cent sous-espèces ont été décrites. - Envergure : jusqu’à 90 mm.
- Période de vol : mars à fin septembre, de une à trois générations en fonction de la latitude.
- Habitat : prairies fleuries, au moins jusqu'à 1 800 m.
- Plantes-hôtes : fenouil, diverses ombellifères, Citrus.
