Alle Hänge oberhalb von Mutters, Götzens, Birgitz und Axams sind sehr feucht aufgrund einer speziellen Lagerung des Untergrundgesteins. Vielerorts reisst wenig Oberflächenwasser das geringe Erdreich auf. Folgt mehr Wasser nach, reisst manchmal die Erde bis auf das Gestein auf und wirft so ganze Bäume um. Dies ist mit ein Grund für die Unmöglichkeit einer Schiverbinduing zwischen der Mutterer Alm und der Axamer Lizum.
