| Titel: | Blick vom Narthex in die Hagia Sophia | | Aufnahmestandort: | Ayasofya, Fatih, Türkei. | | Beschreibung: | Um eine Zerstörung Konstantinopels zu verhindern, hatte Sultan Mehmed II. die freiwillige Übergabe durch Übereinkunft angestrebt, doch eine Kapitulationsaufforderung an Kaiser Konstantin XI. war ohne Erfolg geblieben. Am 27. Mai 1453 ließ der Sultan schließlich seinen Truppen verkünden, dass die nun durch Gewalt zu erobernde Stadt drei Tage lang zur Plünderung offenstünde. Am gleichen Tag fand der letzte Gottesdienst in der Kathedrale statt, den Orthodoxe und katholische Priester gemeinsam feierten. Als die Stadt am 29.
