Die AS 332 wird sowohl zivil mit dem Beinamen «Super Puma» als auch militärisch als «Cougar» verwendet. Sie basiert auf der Aérospatiale SA 330, ist jedoch ein vergrößerter Entwurf, dessen Erstflug am 13. September 1978 stattfand. Die Maschine trägt die Kennung OE-XSP (Heli Austria) und war zuvor in Malaysia und Australien stationiert.
