Beschreibung:

Die Gegend ist seit der Bronzezeit besiedelt, wie archäologische Funde zeigen. Die Gründung von Marciana fällt allerdings in römische Zeit. Im Mittelalter und der frühen Neuzeit wechselte Marcina wie die ganze Insel häufig die Zugehörigkeit.

Der ehemalige Ortsteil Marciana Marina wurde 1954 selbstständige Gemeinde.
