Description de la photo
Titre: Dimmuborgir
Prise de:

East of des Mývatn, in Iceland.

Description:

Dimmuborgir (dimmu "dark", borgir "cities" or "forts") is a large area of unusually shaped lava fields east of Mývatn in Iceland. The Dimmuborgir area is composed of various caves and rock formations, remnants of volcanic activity that are perhaps reminiscent of an ancient collapsed citadel, with columns spewing plumes of sulfuric smoke. In Icelandic folklore, Dimmuborgir is said to connect earth with the infernal regions. In Nordic Christian lore, it is also said that Dimmuborgir is the place where Satan landed when he was casted from the heavens and created the apparent "Catacombs av helvelte" which is Norse for The Catacombs of Hell.
